1. Hill Climbing
That could sound obvious, but oahu is the primary advantage. 3. Personal Fitness
Surely a conventional bike will stop you fitter? That, needless to say, depends just how much – if at all – you use it. Research (b) has found that 46% of conventional bikes are utilized only a couple of times weekly, with another 30% used once a fortnight or even less. By contrast, a recently available survey of electric bicycle owners reveals that the third ride their bike at least one time a day and 81% utilize the bike at least one time weekly (c).

6. Genuinely Sustainable
There’s lots of nonsense mentioned sustainability in transport, but an electric bicycle could be made genuinely sustainable. Purchase electricity from a’green’supplier, or generate your personal with a roof-mounted windmill or solar panel array (see Solar Power facts), and the vehicles’fossil fuel consumption is going to be zero. Surely a conventional bike does that already? Only when you grow the food you consume whilst riding it. Unfortunately, modern food production and distribution is so fuel-intensive that the use of a normal cyclist isn’t terribly good.
7. Faster travel
The theory is that a car can average a high speed, in practise speed often falls below 10mph in cities. The thing is congestion – motorcycles get around this somewhat, but they’re still confined to the street network. A power bike can maintain an increased average speed when compared to a bicycle but make the most of exactly the same network of cycle facilities, giving access to routes that cars and motorcycles cannot reach. The result is frequently a faster door-to-door journey time than any other mode. And by benefiting from the uncongested cycle network, but eliminating hills and headwinds, electric bikes are often the most consistent mode of travel.
8. High Resale Value
Electric bikes are new technology, and it’s early days yet, nevertheless the evidence points to a much better resale value when compared to a conventional bike. True, a normal electric bike costs more to purchase, at £400-£1,000, but it appears you’ll receive most of this back if you sell the equipment on.
